Baptism

Baptism is a way of telling everyone, “I have decided to follow Jesus”. It takes a private relationship and makes it public.  It takes the commitment to a whole other level.  It’s a public confession of an inward reality.   

Baptism is a powerful symbol of the most important reality.  Death to our old selves and raised to life a new creation.    

What is the meaning of baptism?

• It is symbolic of Christ’s burial and resurrection. (I Corinthians 15:3-4)

• Proclamation of a new life as a Christian. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Why should I be baptized?

• Because Jesus set the example. (Mark 1:9)

• Because Jesus commanded it. (Matthew 28:19-20)

• Because it shows my decision to follow Jesus. (Acts 18:8)

How should I be baptized?

• Following the example of Jesus (Matthew 3:16)

Who should be baptized?

• Every person who has believed in Christ! (Acts 2:41)

When should I be baptized?

• As soon as you have accepted Jesus into your life.
